In the era of open economy, quality has emerged as important parameter that determines the success or failure of an organization. Quality, though an elusive attribute, has always been an important issue in construction. Construction projects are always expected to create a balance between cost, time and quality. Quality assurance is needed because of the involvement of negligence and lack of knowledge especially in smaller projects which deduces the quality of the construction. How to establish a quality assurance system and implement the quality assurance system for overall upgrading of the construction quality has become a very essential topic. In the current paper, 30 construction projects were selected from National Capital Region (NCR) with a construction cost between three to five Crores and data was collected from these projects on various quality and management related aspects. These 30 projects cover structures such as school buildings, community hall, hostel block etc. The study was conducted for construction projects of different government bodies. This analysis has been mainly done covering the factors playing key role in quality of a structure during construction such as client’s commitment towards quality, quality of material, documentation, work practices, personnel etc. Based on the data analysis, quality assurance system for these projects were categorized as Excellent, Good, Average and Poor in Quality Grading based on the various factors that directly or indirectly affects the quality and smooth functioning of project during and post construction. This study highlights the negligence and/or ignorance of basic compliance needed during the execution of project which leads to untimely need of maintenance of structures. The study also indicate that there is need to train and create awareness among construction fraternity where still the fundamental quality management needs strengthening. This study was carried out for limited projects from NCR region and hence is not representative sample for whole country. Further studies should be done for more number of projects from various parts of the country to include the regional factors and issues covering environmental aspects related to the behavior of structures in coastal and non-coastal environment

The purpose of the study was to conduct a kinematic comparison of different techniques of putting the shot at the moment of Release. Eight male shot putters of L.N.U.P.E. between the age group of 20 to 26 years, who had been participating regularly, were selected as subjects. 2 D Kinovea Video Anlysis software was used for kinematical analysis of different techniques of putting the shot. Casio Exilim Ex F1H a standard camera which frequency was 300 frame/second and which was placed at 4.67 meter distance perpendicular to  the subject in horizontal plane at height of 1.50 meter.  To find out kinematical comparison between those shot putters who uses different stances t-test was used. For testing the hypothesis the level of significance was set at .05.Results show that the calculated t value is 1.237   and      .260   in relation to linear kinematical variables at moment of releases i.e. Height of c.g. of subject and height of c.g. of shot respectively. It also show that calculated t value for angular kinematic variables such as ankle (right & left),knee(right&left),hip(right&left),shoulder(right&left),elbow(right&left)andwristjoint(right&left)is(.454&2.83*),(1.39&.351),(2.23&1.51),(.290&.419),(.550&.794)and(.365&.833). 1)Insignificant difference was found between those shot putters who uses different technique of putting the shot in relation to  height of c.g. of subject and height of c.g. of shot put.2)Insignificant difference was also found in relation to ankle (right), knee (right & left) and hip joint (right), shoulder (right & left), elbow (right & left) and wrist joint (right & left).3)Significant difference was found between those shot putters who use different technique of putting the shot in relation to ankle joint (left). X-ray emission from O-type stars : DH Cep and HD 97434

We present X-ray emission characteristics of the massive O-type stars DH Cep and HD 97434 using archival XMM-Newton observations. There is no convincing evidence for short term variability in the X-ray intensity during the observations. However, the analysis of their spectra reveals X-ray structure being consistent with two-temperature plasma model. The hydrogen column densities derived from X-ray spectra of DH Cep and HD 97434 are in agreement with the reddening measurements for their corresponding host clusters NGC 7380 and Trumpler 18, indicating that the absorption by stellar wind is negligible. The X-ray emission from these hot stars is interpreted in terms of the standard instability-driven wind shock model.Comment: 13 pages ; 2 figures; 2 tables (Accepted for publication in New Astronomy
